Why Do Pregnancy Symptoms Decrease With Chiropractic Treatments by a Pregnancy Chiropractor?

The nervous system controls all the systems in your body. Under the direction of your body’s Natural Wisdom, the nervous system adjusts your body to the changes of pregnancy. If there is interference in the command and control communication of the nervous system (a subluxation) your body cannot handle the changes as expertly as it could if it were operating at full capacity. A pregnancy chiropractor can help.

The existence of a vertebral subluxation interferes with the nervous system’s skill to communicate back and forth within all the systems in the body. Subluxation leads to:

  • Body Imbalance

Your head can tilt to one side. Your brain has a reflex known as the righting reflex which keeps your eyes level with the horizon. This can cause your lower cervical spine to bend to the opposite side your head is tilted. To compensate for this bend, your thoracic spine will turn the opposite way, then again in the opposite way in the lumbar spinal column. Then a single side of your pelvis is drawn up causing one leg to seem shorter in relation to the other, along with an irregular distribution of weight placing undue stress on the joints. This state of affairs puts unnatural pressure on the mother’s spine from top to bottom and makes it harder for the infant to enter the correct birth position.

  • Pressure or Nerve Tension

Because the weight of the uterus is pulling the muscles on one or both sides of your back, they become tight. Inflammation can take hold and escalate in areas of spinal misalignment. These changes add pressure to the nerves leaving your spinal column either at the nerve root or further along the path of the nerves. The nerves leaving your spinal cord all control various elements of your own body, including muscles, organs, glands, and blood vessels. Left alone, this nerve pressure can cause degeneration in these various body systems.

  • Brain Stem Pressure

A subluxation of your atlas (C1) vertebra not only narrows the spinal canal where the spinal cord comes out from the brain, but this narrowed space leads to an increase of pressure inside the spinal canal. This additional pressure causes undue stress to the brain stem found just over the atlas.
