Both babies and grownups can reap the benefits of chiropractic care. Chiropractic care keeps the spine and other joints in the body in alignment with where they are designed to be in order to optimize the miles of communication fiber in the body that runs everything: your central nervous system. chiropractic care clinicWhen a joint is out of alignment in the spine, it is called a “vertebral subluxation” which means: a little dislocation or misalignment of the bones in the back. The process of correcting subluxations and other misalignments is called an adjustment, and the realignment allows the entire body to heal. The chiropractic adjustment as practiced by Dr. Stakes (using advanced activator technology) is a quick and gentle tap applied to a vertebra with the aim of correcting its location, motion or both. There is no sound, and usually, no discomfort with the activator technique, just the sense of relief is how most people describe it. Sometimes, if there is injury to the area or a long-standing misalignment then minor discomfort may be experienced, but it is momentary. Discomfort may occur particularly when the surrounding muscles are in spasm. There is no perceptible “cracking” with the activator technique and the nerve flow is repaired. Information to naturally heal the body is flowing again. There are in fact five elements that lead to the vertebral subluxation complex (VSC). 1. Bone Part-where the vertebra is either out of place, not moving correctly, or is experiencing degeneration. This frequently results in a narrowing of the spaces between the bones whereby the nerves pass; regularly causing aggravation or impingement of the nerve itself. 2. The result is that all the tissues which are fed by those nerves receive distorted signals from the mind and, therefore, are unable to function normally. Over time, this could cause an entire host of states, including peptic ulcers, constipation, and other organ system dysfunction. 3. Muscle Part-since nerves control the muscles that help hold the vertebrae in position; muscles must be regarded as an important portion of the vertebral subluxation complex. Muscles both affect and are influenced by the VSC. It’s no wonder that very few subluxations go away by themselves. 4. Soft Tissue Part-the VSC may also impact the surrounding tendons, ligaments, blood supply, and other tissues as the misaligned vertebrae pull and press on the connective tissue with force. Over time, the soft tissues can become stretched out or scarred, making the back with either a long-term instability or limitation. 5. Usually, the chemical changes, including the discharge of a category of compounds called “kinins,” are proinflammatory; meaning they raise inflammation in the affected region. These changes get increasingly worse over time if they’re not treated right, resulting in long-term pain, inflammation, arthritis, muscle trigger points, the formation of bone spurs, reduction of movement, along with muscle weakness and spasm. Chiropractic care treats these structural and health issues associated with vertebral subluxation complex. A growing number of scientific research shows the enormous damaging impact that subluxations have on the tissue of the body. To be able to be healthy, it’s essential your nervous system be function free of interference from subluxations. Dr. Stakes is an experienced Doctor of Chiropractic and uses low-impact treatments using the activator and Atlas Orthogonal techniques to gently realign your body so you can feel your best again.
